This article will focus on the recommended diet for people who suffer from acid reflux syndrome more than others, and outline foods that are known in most people to aggravate acid reflux.
What is Acid Reflux?
Acid reflux usually begins with suffering from heartburn. We all seem to suffer from heartburn at one time or another, which is basically an acid-like taste coming from our throats, nausea, and the symptoms worsen when you lie down. Eating foods and beverages filled with acid, such as coffee, sometimes causes heartburn. You could also experience some chest pain with heartburn.
If you suffer from heartburn more than once a week, you may be suffering from something much larger – acid reflux syndrome. Everyone is different, and everyone experiences this symptom of acid reflux syndrome more or less than others. When we eat or drink, these liquids and foods move through our esophagus into our stomachs, and then into our digestive tracts. There are muscles at the end of our esophagus that will not allow foods and beverages to move back up from our stomachs when it gets there. However, this does not always work and the foods might move back up the esophagus and irritate the lining. This is what happens inside your body when you experience heartburn. If this happens a lot over a period of time the lining will get more and more irritated, resulting in acid reflux syndrome.
There may be other causes for acid reflux syndrome, and you should consult your medical professional to be sure of what treatments you need.
